The Schimke Ranch was established in 1906, and has always been a working ranch. Currently we are producing commercial beef cattle, and we have a nice selection of speed and working-bred performance horses prospects. Check out our weanlings, and you will find nice prospects for Quarter Horse racing, barrel racing, cowboy mounted shooting, roping, and general ranch work. Something new at Schimke Ranch, starting in 2012, will be a nice selection of racing bred Appaloosas, in addition to our speed-bred Quarter Horses.

Frostman San Peppy

We are raising the type of quarter horses that we like to ride. You will not find a single animal in our breeding program that is not proven in one aspect or another. We are striving for QUALITY, not quantity. We only run around a dozen broodmares, but EVERY quarter horse mare has been proven either in the arena, on the track, or as a producer. We have carefully hand picked each and every one of our broodmares and we have some of the most popular, proven bloodlines available in the business.

Both of the quarter horse stallions that stand here have all done their share, and our senior quarter horse stallion, Frostman San Peppy, is an example of what a performance stallion should be. He is the total package and has excelled at anything he has been asked to do.

Firewater Finale

 

Our young stallion, Firewater Finale, has already proven himself in the barrel racing arena, having won and placed at several barrel racing futurities and WPRA events in the fall of 2009and Derbys and Open 4Ds in 2010. His first crop of foals will be 3 year olds in 2011, and we have heard a lot of great things from the people that own them. We are tickled about the way they are breaking out and handling.

Troubled Memories

 

In January of 2011, we decided to try something a little different. We added a new stallion to our program. Troubled Memories is one of the few running bred Appaloosas available to the public for breeding. He is one of the best-bred running stallions that can be found anywhere, regardless of breed. With a Speed Index of 96 himself, he is the sire of many race winners and is a successful barrel racing/rodeo sire as well, with only a few foals on the ground. We are happy to be able to offer these genetics to the public. There are very few proven racing Appaloosa stallions to choose from at this time, and we feel that Troubled Memories has a lot to offer as a sire.
